If you have a touch of the adventurer in you, venture down to Rue Keller and Rue Charonne in Paris’ 11th Arrondisement to find struggling young designers searching for their big break, sewing their fingers to the bone in their boutique-ateliers, putting their inspired genius into their young collections!
You can buy original designer outfits at reasonable prices and be absolutely sure that no one else will be wearing it or even the same brand on your nights out on the town! This is probably what Le Marais was like before the tourists took over!
Three of our favorites in rue Keller are below:
The Swiss born Anne Willi was the first to open her doors in Rue Keller. A feminine softness and an eye for beauty pervade her dresses, coats and shirts. The garments you like will feel as though they have been made for you and they do come with a limited edition number! Willi has launched a collection for children as well.
Gaëlle Barré brings freshness and prettiness to her summer collections with colorful pretty dresses with deep backs to catch as much sun as possible. For the cooler seasons, Barré has woven coats in strong hues and hand knitted woolen tops. A small collection of accessories to complement the clothes is also on offer.
One of the later arrivals in Rue Keller, Marci N’Oum markets women’s wear and children’s wear in limited editions. The style is fresh and invigorating and the prints are amazing. The prices are right if you are on a budget especially considering that these are designer pieces. Like several of the boutiques on Rue Keller, the Marci N’Oum shop is a family affair run by Isabelle and Jean Claude N’Doumbé.
